Les Aliments 2000 – acquired by investment platform

Les Aliments 2000, a Canada-based pizza-products manufacturer, has been acquired by local specialist investment platform Bakery Humanity.

The acquisition of Les Aliments 2000 – the terms for which were undisclosed – sees the investment vehicle take charge of a business founded in 1980 that started out making pizza dough but which has expanded into pie crusts, dough balls, pizzas with toppings and pizza sauce.

Les Aliments 2000, based in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures in Quebec, sells its products through grocery chains including Loblaw, Walmart and Metro, either under private label or under its own brands Pâte 2000, Pizza Artizan and PizzéDélic.

Bakery Humanity acquired Les Aliments 2000 from owners Denis Giroux, Sébastien Giroux, and Conrad Boivin. Les Aliments 2000 joins Maison Isabelle and Boulangerie-Pâtisserie Dumas, a business bought by Champlain in June 2020, as a Bakery Humanity portfolio company.

A group of investors led by Canada-based private-equity firm Champlain Financial Corp. set up Bakery Humanity earlier this year after buying local bakery business Maison Isabelle.

Dominique Bohec, who has been president of Maison Isabelle since 2015 and leads the Bakery Humanity platform, will additionally become president and CEO of Les Aliments 2000.
